Join us in an Everglades expense where students will learn first hand by getting into the Everglades environment. PLEASE REGISTER STUDENT ONLY. PARENTS CAN PARTICIPATE BUT PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOURSELF IN NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS!

About the Event
This field trip takes place entirely outdoors.
Participants (both adults and students) are guaranteed to get wet and muddy, most likely up to the knees or higher depending on water levels.
➢ Teachers are required to participate in all activities with their students. Teachers must enter the water for dipnetting and swamp tromp activities, and be in a boat for canoeing. ➢ Teachers are responsible for monitoring and correcting their students’ behavior and enforcing all safety rules as outlined by Grassy Waters staff at the start of each activity. Inappropriate and unsafe behavior will lead to program termination. ➢ Choose chaperones that are comfortable in an outdoor setting and are willing to get wet and muddy while participating in all activities with students. You will need a minimum of 3 adults (teachers and/ or chaperones) per class willing to participate in all activities with the students. ➢ Grassy Waters staff reserve the right to alter or cancel program activities at their discretion based on environmental conditions, safety considerations, or time constraints. ➢ If you are running late please call us at (561)804-4985. We reserve the right to adjust your program duration and activities or in extreme cases cancel the program outright.
All participants must bring/wear: Signed waiver Closed-toed shoes that can get wet and muddy, and fit tightly enough not to be pulled off by themud. Water shoes or old sneakers are best. No open-top rain boots (they fill up and get heavy). NO FLIP FLOPS. Weather-appropriate clothing that can get wet and muddy Refillable water bottle Sun protection Full change of clothing and shoes for a dry ride back to school

What we will do:
Dipnetting
Search for the tiny invertebrates that live buried in our marsh as a part of a scientific investigation to determine the health of the habitat. Students, teachers, and chaperones will enter the water with Grassy Waters Staff and use nets to search through the muck to capture invertebrates for identification and discussion
Come Prepared: All Participants, including teachers and chaperones, will get significantly wet and muddy during this activity. Plan for thigh-deep water levels. Teachers and chaperones are required to get in the water and actively participate with their students, and should dress accordingly. Participants must wear/bring: Closed-toe shoes that can get wet and muddy and fit snugly enough not to be pulled off by themud. Water shoes and old sneakers are best. No flip flops or rain boots. Towel Complete change of clothes, including undergarments and shoes. Bag for wet clothes and shoes Hat and Sunscreen Refillable Water bottle
Swamp Tromp
Get your feet wet on an off-boardwalk adventure through the Everglades! Students and chaperones will follow their guide along a wet and rugged swamp trail, navigating around natural obstacles as they pretend to be members of a Florida Native American tribe and learn about the importance of wetland resources.
Come Prepared:
Your class will be split into two small groups, with at least one chaperone or teacher needed per group
