What if your child could build their own skateboard from scratch and then learn to ride it?

​

This fall, Surf Skate Science is bringing together skateboarding, woodworking, engineering, and hands-on STEAM learning for five unforgettable days of building, creating, and skating!

​

Our Create-A-Skate Fall Skate Camp takes students beyond traditional skate camp with a complete woodshop experience. Campers will discover the science and craftsmanship behind skateboarding as they build, shape, design, and assemble their very own skateboard to take home.

​

And the best part? They'll get to skate what they create!

From the Woodshop to the Skatepark

Each day, campers will split their time between hands-on projects at The Lab and skateboarding activities designed to develop skills, confidence, and friendships.

​

Throughout the week, campers will explore:

• Skateboard Building: Discover how skateboards are made while working through the process of constructing their own board.

• Woodworking & Engineering: Explore tools, materials, measurement, design, and the engineering principles behind skateboard construction.

• Art & Custom Design: Get creative designing a skateboard that reflects their individual style.

• Skateboard Science: Investigate the physics of balance, motion, friction, gravity, and force.

• Skateboarding Skills: Practice fundamentals, develop new tricks, and build confidence with guidance from experienced skate coaches.

• Local Skatepark Adventures: Experience skateboarding beyond The Lab while exploring local skateparks throughout South Florida.

• Life Skills: Build resilience, problem-solving skills, patience, teamwork, and confidence through hands-on challenges.

More Than Just Skate Camp

Our skate camp roots run deep in South Florida. Our coaches and counselors have decades of combined experience helping young people learn to skate safely, beginning with Ramp Camp in the early 2000s and later helping run Island Water Sports Skate Camp for more than 10 years.

Today, Surf Skate Science brings that experience to The Lab, our headquarters and private indoor skate training facility in Oakland Park.

​

Whether your child is brand new to skateboarding or already working on advanced tricks, our coaches focus on safety, progression, encouragement, and making sure every camper feels part of the crew.

We believe some of the best learning happens when young people get to work with their hands, make mistakes, solve problems, and create something they're proud of.

And this time, they get to take their creation home!

Camp Details

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9 AM–3 PM

Drop-Off/Pick-Up: Surf Skate Science – The Lab

Camp Tuition: $300 for the full week

Included: Five days of camp, hands-on Create-A-Skate woodshop experience, skateboarding instruction, and one completed custom skateboard to take home.

Skill Levels: Beginners through experienced skaters welcome.

Safety: Helmets and closed-toe shoes are required for skateboarding activities. Woodshop activities are supervised with age-appropriate tools and safety instruction.
