From mangroves to microscopes—students are heading into Biscayne National Park for a day as marine scientists. Join us for a ranger-led Biscayne Explorer field trip where learners explore South Florida’s ecosystems through hands-on labs, jetty walks, and real-world science at the edge of the bay.

Biscayne Explorer Field Trip
Location: Dante Fascell Visitor Center, Biscayne National Park (Homestead, FL) Format: Land-based, ranger-led educational experience (no snorkeling)
Age(s): Formatted for 4th grade standards but 2nd - 6th can participate.
The Biscayne Explorer Program is a free, immersive field trip that invites students to explore the living science of Biscayne National Park—right where land meets sea. Led by National Park Service rangers, students step into the role of marine scientists as they investigate the park’s interconnected ecosystems through hands-on, standards-aligned activities.
Throughout the day, learners rotate through engaging learning stations designed to build understanding, curiosity, and environmental awareness:
Jetty Walk: Explore mangroves and seagrass habitats while observing how coastal ecosystems protect shorelines and support marine life.
