Over the past few weeks, our Surf Skate Science students have been on an incredible journey learning about Skateparkitecture — the science, design, and civic process behind building skateparks.

They studied how skateparks are designed, explored the physics and architecture behind them, and even built their own scale model parks using foam, cement, and concrete.

But the learning didn’t stop in the lab.

Many of these students also participated in real civic advocacy in the past, attending city meetings and supporting the community effort that helped bring a skatepark to Pompano Beach after more than a decade of persistence.

Now they will experience the next step in the process.

On March 24th, students are invited to a special field trip to the new Pompano Beach Skatepark construction site where they will witness a live concrete pour and see how professional builders turn design plans into real skateable terrain.
