WaveMakers: Youth Environmental Science Lab is a hands-on, future-focused environmental science course for middle and high school students who want to move beyond learning about problems and start designing real solutions.
Built for students who see themselves as changemakers, this lab blends science, stewardship, and career exploration through real-world experiences. Using curriculum from the Guy Harvey Foundation, students will dive into marine and environmental science while learning directly from scientists, conservation leaders, and field professionals doing the work today.
Throughout this 7-week lab, students will:
Explore marine ecosystems, coastal environments, and human impact
Learn how scientists collect data, monitor ecosystems, and study environmental change

From beach cleanups to snorkeling trips and visits to the coral lab, students will explore the ocean through hands-on experiences and real-world learning

Date and time is TBDBiscayne National ParkFrom mangroves to microscopes—students are heading into Biscayne National Park for a day as marine scientists. Join us for a ranger-led Biscayne Explorer field trip where learners explore South Florida’s ecosystems through hands-on labs, jetty walks, and real-world science at the edge of the bay.
Weekly - Work on your own scheduleOnline Course - You make the scheduleWe are inviting all homeschoolers to join us this semester in being an everglades explorer. Lessons are available for grade K-8 and can be done at your own pace. Share photos of you doing the lessons to be entered each month to win a prize. We will be posting new lessons each Monday.
