Seakeepers Launch at Pelican Harbour, 1275 NE 79th St, Miami, FL 33138, USA

About the Event

Students grades 3rd and up are invited to be part of the Seakeepers floating classroom in Biscayne Bay. We have space for 28 spaces total. Parents are not required to attend. We hope to fill as many of these spots as possible with students. Rest assured that the boat is equipped with life vests and the captain is coast guard trained.

Students will be on a pontoon boat that will go on a short ride on Biscayne Bay to review the history of Florida's coastlines and explore water quality. They will then take part in a citizen science lab on marine debris at Pelican Island before heading back to the dock. Students can also explore the pelican rescue facility once they return.

Participants can arrive anytime between 9:30 and 10am at Pelican Harbor Marina. The boat will be launching right from the other side of the main building with the offices and bathrooms. If anyone is parking at the marina, it will cost just over $7 per vehicle via paybyphone.

Students should be prepared with sun protection, lots of water, and closed-toe shoes! Seakeepers will provide all of the educational materials needed for the day. If you want to eat lunch at the marina when we return around 12/12:30pm, you can bring your lunches, as well!
