About
Welcome to the Fall 2024 Semester of Surf Skate Science! We will be "Engineering the Future" this semester.
Innovation can come from surprising places, like skateboarding and surfing. Today, skateboarding is a big industry worth about $3.2 billion because of innovation, creativity and the excitment this has created.
Surfing, like skateboarding, has a long history of innovation. Surfers started on wooden boards, and now they use advanced materials. Both sports require creativity and practice, and learning from mistakes is part of the process. Falling and getting back up is how skateboarders and surfers get better.
This semester we will use this inspiration to think outside the box, ask questions, try new things, learn from mistakes, use our imagination, and work with others. Remember, every fall is a step closer to success. We can’t wait to get creative and make engineer exciting new things in and from skateboarding and surfing this semester!
