About the Event
Adventure Awaits: Explore Grassy Waters in the Florida Everglades!Get ready for an unforgettable experience at Grassy Waters Preserve, where students in grades 3-12 will dive into the natural beauty of the Florida Everglades. This hands-on field trip is designed to ignite curiosity, create a personal connection with the environment, and foster a strong sense of environmental stewardship.
Students will participate in two immersive activities, exploring the unique habitats of the preserve. Whether paddling through the serene marshes in canoes or tromping through the swamp on foot, participants will learn about the delicate balance between nature and human impact.
Program Highlights:
Canoe Adventure (Grades 6th -12th):Navigate through the marsh habitat to observe cypress tree islands, discover unique plants, and spot wildlife. Students will gain a first-hand understanding of how wetlands contribute to freshwater systems and learn about water quality, human impact, and the importance of preserving these ecosystems.

Swamp Tromp (3rd - 5th):Put on your water shoes and hike off-boardwalk through the flooded forest! Students will explore the cypress swamp, learning how Native American tribes lived off the land. They’ll discover how plants adapted to this wetland environment and learn about species that can be used for food, medicine, and shelter.
