About the Event
Join us for an exciting and educational field trip to Palm Beach Waste Management!Students will have the unique opportunity to explore the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) of Palm Beach County's state-of-the-art Integrated Solid Waste Management System. This visit is designed to expand students' knowledge about waste reduction and sustainable practices. They will participate in one of two engaging and informative programs, each offering a hands-on experience that reinforces what they’ve learned.
Students will discover how SWA’s Renewable Energy Facility 2 turns the county’s 1.6 million tons of trash into electricity! This program teaches students about the importance of renewable energy sources and how they help reduce reliance on fossil fuels. They will see firsthand how waste-to-energy processes work, providing a real-world look at innovative technology.
Students may aslo have the opportunity to step outdoors onto the SWA Greenway Trail System. Here they will learn how industry and nature coexist, exploring…
