About the Event
Kick off Go Skate Day weekend early at The Lab!
Join us June 20 from 4–10 PM for a full night of skating, fingerboarding, community, local vendors, skate history, prizes, and good vibes at Surf Skate Science in Oakland Park.
We’ll start the day with an open skate session until 6 PM, plus a market in the alley featuring food trucks, vintage finds, locally made goods, art, collectibles, clothing, zines, fingerboards, and more.
Then we’re turning The Lab into a DIY fingerboard pop-up, where you can bring your own parks, obstacles, and setups. At 7 PM, we’ll host a Fingerboard Game of SKATE and unveil a brand-new full-sized obstacle in the alley.
We’ll wrap the night with a special screening of Fully Flared as we celebrate Marc Johnson, honor his life and legacy, and keep the night going with trivia, prizes, and board giveaways.

From beach cleanups to snorkeling trips and visits to the coral lab, students will explore the ocean through hands-on experiences and real-world learning

Join us for a ranger-led Biscayne Explorer field trip where learners explore South Florida’s ecosystems through hands-on labs, jetty walks, and real-world science at the edge of the bay.

Lessons are available for grade K-8 and can be done at your own pace. Share photos of you doing the lessons to be entered each month to win a prize. We will be posting new lessons each Monday.
